Bondhu Participates in National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2026

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, the Bangladesh Forest Department launched the National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2026 at Sher‑e‑Bangla Nagar, Agargaon, Dhaka. Running from 9 July to 9 August 2026, the campaign coincided with the week‑long Environment Fair 2026 (9–15 July), organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change together with the Department of Environment (DoE).

The Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) has been showcasing its six ongoing climate‑friendly projects: Bondhu Chula (Improved Cook Stove), Mangrove Afforestation (CASMAR), Climate‑Friendly Agriculture, Climate‑Friendly Tree Plantation, Solar‑Powered Drinking Water Supply, and Energy‑Saving Stove (Sashroyi Chula).

Bondhu has undertaken a nationwide initiative to plant 60 million medicinal, fruit, and timber trees by 2037, strengthening biodiversity and resilience against climate change.

In partnership with the Bangladesh Forest Department, Bondhu is implementing the Carbon Sequestration through Mangrove Afforestation and Restoration (CASMAR) project. Under a signed MoU, Bondhu aims to plant Keora (Sonneratia apetala) trees across 50,000 hectares within 10 years, enhancing coastal protection and boosting carbon capture.

At the Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2026, Bondhu is highlighting its Climate‑Friendly Tree Plantation and Mangrove Afforestation initiatives, emphasizing the importance of tree plantation alongside other sustainable projects. Representatives at Bondhu’s stall has been presenting project activities in detail and distributing informative leaflets to raise public awareness.
