Environment Fair 2024 held on 5th-11th June
The Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) participated in the Environment Fair-2024, an annual event orchestrated by the Department of Environment and the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. This event, alongside the month-long National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair, took place at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka, beside the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC). The fair kicked off on June 5th and wrapped up on June 11th, 2024. The fair was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on World Environment Day. The theme for this year's World Environment Day is "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience."
During the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina set a powerful example by planting a tree, underlining the crucial role of afforestation in tackling climate change. She called upon citizens to engage in tree planting, stressing the shared duty of mitigating climate impacts in Bangladesh.
As a regular participant, BONDHU showcased its dedication to environmental conservation through a vibrant display of five key projects. Their exhibit featured engaging demonstrations, multimedia presentations, informative documentaries, and detailed posters. Additionally, brochures detailing these projects were distributed to visitors throughout the event. The seven-day fair concluded on June 11th, 2024.
In alignment with its environmental mission, BONDHU also took part in the Tree Fair-2024, setting up a dedicated stall. The representatives of BONDHU at the stall shared information about the tree plantation initiatives and underscored the benefits of afforestation. Highlighting the critical role of tree planting in mitigating climate change, BONDHU presented a diverse selection of climate-resilient tree species, educating visitors on their importance throughout the fair.
