Gourango’s Story of Transformation
Gourango Kumar Sarker, a resident of Karapara Union in Bagerhat District, embodies the transformative power of determination and the opportunities provided by Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU). Born as the fourth child in his family, Gourango had a strong passion for education, which led him to overcome numerous challenges on his path.
Despite facing hardships, Gourango successfully completed a Degree (Pass) course in Arts. In 2010, he started working in a local NGO with a meager salary, struggling to make ends meet for his family. Gourango was determined to bring about a positive change in his life and fortunes began to shift when he became acquainted with Atanu Sarker, DGM of Bondhu Chula Project at Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU).
Inspired by the potential of Bondhu Chula, Gourango applied for a job at BONDHU and successfully secured a position. His journey within the organization started with field training in Khulna, and he eventually took on the role of Assistant District Manager (ADM) at the Manirampur unit office in Jessore.
Through his experience working with the staff of BONDHU, Gourango realized that the organization is also an initiative capable of bringing about positive changes. In his personal life, Gourango faced challenges with his elder son, who had difficulty speaking. With the financial assistance of Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation, his son received treatment in Vellore, India.
Working at BONDHU not only provided Gourango with the means to support his family but also enabled him to afford his son's educational expenses and monthly medicine costs. Gourango's dedication and hard work were rewarded with tangible achievements – he was able to fulfill dreams that once seemed beyond his reach. He purchased a Discover (125 CC) motorcycle and managed a piece of land to build his own house. Besides, Gourango secured 1st position as the best Assistant District Manager in Bangladesh twice and 2nd position once. He expresses his commitment to continuing his job at BONDHU for as long as possible.
