A three day-long Bondhu Mela held at Gharinda, Tangail

Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) organized a 3day-long Bondhu Mela from 3rd February 2023, Friday to 5th February 2023 at Bararia, Suruj Bishweshwari High School, Gharinda, Tangail. Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation's (BONDHU) sister organization Bashori - A Nazrul Center was the co-organizer of the event. 


The auspicious opening of the fair was announced on 3rd  February 2023 at 3.30 pm. Then at 4.00 pm, the traditional stick game (popularly known as Lathi Khela in Bangla) was held. Following this, Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation’s (BONDHU) program manager and Bashori president Dr. Engineer Khalequzzaman delivered the welcome speech at 4:15 pm. Honorable Member of Parliament of Tangail-5 constituency Mr. Alhaj Md. Sanowar Hossain, MP graced the occasion as the chief guest. Tangail Sadar Upazila Chairman Alhaj Shah Jahan Ansari; Zamir Uddin, Deputy Director, Department of Environment, Tangail; Agronomist Rumana Akhtar, Upazila Agriculture Officer, Tangail; Md. Waliar Rahman, Senior Assistant Engineer, LGED, Tangail; Md. Tofayel Ahmed, Chairman, Union Parishad, Gharinda, Tangail; Md. Shah Aowrangazeb, Acting Headmaster, Bararia Suruj Bishweshwari High School and the Committee Members of Bararia Suruj Bishweshwari High School were present as special guests. The discussion meeting was presided over by freedom fighter Mr. Alhaj Khandokar Nazim Uddin Ahmed, President of Bararia Suruj Bishweshwari High School.

 


The recital of the poem Bidrohi (The Rebel) composed by poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was held at 4.30 p.m.  Renowned reciter Mr. Tito Munshi led the recital session. Later, a discussion meeting was held at 4:45 pm. The invitee distinguished guests delivered their speeches at the event.  In the evening at 6 p.m., Nazrul Sangeet was performed by the artists of Bashori. The scheduled program of the first day ended at 8.00 pm with the screening of the documentary film ‘Rajbandir Jabanbandi’ composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam.
