BONDHU for Flood-stricken Friends

Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) and Bashori- A Nazrul Center have always stood by the needy people by extending their helping hands in various disasters including natural calamities and epidemics. Sylhet, a northeastern division of Bangladesh was inundated by one of the worst floods in the history of the division, and the situation started worsening on 16th June 2022. The inhabitants of Sylhet were stranded in floodwater and common people had been suffering from a lack of shelter, food, drinking water, and daily essentials. In this situation, BONDHU and Bashori- A Nazrul Centre jointly responded to the flood-affected people of Sylhet by providing relief assistance.

On 26th June 2022, the BONDHU and Bashori disbursed a total of 12 lakh takas relief aid including rice, pulse, potato, onion, saline, and water purification tablets in North Sreepur Union of Tahirpur Upazila of Sunamganj district. During the relief distribution, representatives of Union Parishad and the staff of Bondhu Foundation's head office, district, and upazila branches were present. The employees of the BONDHU also participated in this great initiative by donating their one-day salary.

On 22nd July 2022, Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU), Bashori- a Nazrul Center, and South Korea's Ecoeye Co. Ltd. jointly distributed relief goods in 6 shelter centers of Balaganj and Osmaninagar Upazila of Sylhet where a total of 300 families and 270 families including 220 in Haji Abdus Chhattar and Maryam High School and 50 in Badjumma Sunamganj Municipal Degree College of Gourarang Union of Sunamganj Sadar Upazila. A total of 570 families were disbursed relief goods. Each of the flood-stricken families was given 2 thousand takas, one sari, one lungi, one towel, water purification tablets, oral saline, soaps, detergent powder, biscuits, etc. as relief aid.
